Geology

  • «Sherlovskaya-Naklonnaya»

Presently the Sherlovskaya-Naklonnaya mine is mining coal seam k2 to the north-east of the minefield of the Obukhovskaya No. 1 mine. Thickness of seam k2 is 1.14 - 1.35 m, it has a low dip angle, simple structure, and is classified as a continuous formation across the entire minefield. The seam is not prone to spontaneous combustion, has no sudden outburst hazard and no coal dust explosion hazard. It is classified as hazardous by the risk of rock bursts at a depth of 800 meters and below. The mine is classified as nongassy. Average water inflow into the mine is 185 m3/hour.

  • «Obukhovskaya No. 1»

The area of the Obukhovskaya № 1 mine covered by the mining license includes deposits of the coal seam k2, grade A coal (anthracite). The minefield has the favourable geologic and tectonic setting. It is seen as holding great potential in terms of the mining conditions and quality of the coal-bearing strata in this mining region.

In the north the minefield borders on the Dalnyaya minefield belonging to Donskoy Anthracite JSC; Sherlovskaya-Naklonnaya mine field of Donugol JSC is in the north-east; and the minefield of Obukhovskaya ShU JSC is stretching to the south-west. The minefield sizes reach 11.1 kilometers along the strike and 5.5 kilometers down dip. The area of the minefield is 61 sq.km. The estimated reserves of Obukhovskaya No. 1 mine are sufficient for producing 3.0 million tons annually for over 40 years.
